Indigenous enterprise Bunji Hire turns to Rebus for tailored growth funding

Posted by: Danielle Moore at May 03, 2023

Rebus Capital Partners has been working with Melbourne-based indigenous equipment hire business Bunji Hire to secure tailored funding solutions that will underpin the company’s growth potential.

Bunji Hire director Paul Campbell says the partnership is proving critical in shoring up its ability to expand.

“Our business has grown considerably since we started in 2019, with great opportunity for that trajectory to continue, provided we have the right funding structures.

“While this kind of performance is great for us and our team, it can make funders nervous.

“We were looking for an advisor that could help us secure longer-term funding, and I was introduced to Tom at Rebus by a contact he had worked with successfully to solve their own funding gap.

“We’ve now been working together for nearly 12 months, focused on term debt solutions across our plant, vehicle and equipment needs.”

Bunji Hire is a registered Aboriginal business that provides a comprehensive range of plant and equipment via rental or hire facility.

Operating throughout the Eastern Seaboard and the Northern Territory, the company has a strong track record with clients across major infrastructure, mining, corporate and government projects. It is committed to improving Indigenous business engagement outcomes while delivering high quality results based on genuine long-term partnerships.

Paul says Tom took time to learn and understand what makes Bunji Hire unique.

“He saw our growth as an endorsement of the business model, rather than a risk, and was able to articulate that message to potential funding partners.

“It changed the conversation.

“His ability to ask the right questions, follow up quickly and positive outlook has made a massive difference to our experience with these kinds of discussions.

“He advised us carefully but ambitiously, to target the right amount of funding while we had the opportunity.

“I’d encourage businesses in our position to not hold back on looking at these kinds of growth solutions.

“It can make all the difference to the future of your business and your people.”
